| The England squad first wore this
shirt in the same match that the New England manager Sven Göran Eriksson took
control of the team, it was a 3-0 friendly match win over Spain at Villa park
on the 28th of February. This England shirt was unique to all of its other predecessors,
since it featured a vertical stripe and the three lions crest on the left side.
England wore this shirt a total of 17 times including the three matches against
Sweden, Denmark and Brazil at the 2002 World Cup final tournament in Japan. The
alternative strip of the white shirt along with white shorts and stockings was
worn four times out of the seventeen matches played in the white shirt. The England
squad last wore this shirt on the 16th of October 2002 in the European Championship
2004 qualifier in the 2-2 draw with FYR Macedonia at the Friends Provident St
Mary's Stadium. |
